There are several types of optical character readers out in the market now, many of which are capable of accurately analyzing even human handwriting and converting it into digital. But the brilliance of a business card reader shows in its ability to distinguish between the text so as to determine, without any additional input, which entry belongs to which field. It is clear that business cards serve very little in the way of practical purposes anymore. It is a much more convenient method to just store and message the information electronically via mobile phones, which eliminates the need for such an OCR device. However, surviving as it is as a relic from a bygone age, as a token of courtesy, it still holds importance.
