"Search engine friendly" is a term used for describing the web site designs, content management ,menus, systems and shopping carts that can be optimized easily. Optimizing a website includes editing the content and the HTML coding to increase the relevance of specific keywords and remove the barriers in the search engines indexing activities. In mid 1990's Webmasters and content providers started a process for the search engines that involved optimizing the sites on their list. This process involved a search engine spider downloading a page and storing that page search engine's own server, where an indexer program would extract various information like the words and their location on the page located.
